Rehearsal Day 4

Writing that title I can hardly believe it. Only 4 days? I feel like I've know this group for much longer and we've gotten so much done. I guess that's the nature of having all-day rehearsals. I always forget tho and I'm amazed every time! So we've now added "Oom Pah Pah", "I Shall Scream" and the "Oliver!" reprise to the list of staged numbers (that I'm in anyway, they've accomplished even more than that) in addition to blocking half my Widow Corney scenes (sound clip from music rehearsal of the reprise is posted above). Clayton really is a gifted director. He has a real knack for finding great moments in a script that don't even exist but are so good and witty and smart. And on top of it all he's just a lovely man! Even though my whole body hurts and I'm exhausted it's like that little kid exhausted, the way you felt coming home from a day at Six Flags or something.

I am absolutely in love with Will Harrell who plays Mr. Sowerberry. I have never liked the Sowerberry's or their song "That's Your Funeral" until I saw Will and Erin do it under Clayton's direction. Will is this amazing, tall, lean character actor but he's very young. Great, expressive face, huge blue eyes. He is so damn good and funny and makes terrific choices, I just love watching him. Even in scenes where he is just doing ensemble work he is so interesting to watch. The whole cast is talented and I'm proud to be working alongside these actors. I lerrrrrrrrrve our swing and dance captain Andrew like mad. Andrew and I have a friend, Val Moranto, in common so we knew we'd get along right away and we sure did. He's wonderfully catty and we have way too much fun. Matt (Mr. Brownlow) David and I also have a friend in common in Ricky Pope as they toured together in Annie last year. Matt decided not to go back out on that tour for the second leg and that's lucky for me because now Matt is my roommate for the tour and a great new friend! In my spare time I enjoy starting ridiculous rumors about him on FB and thankfully my castmates join in the fun. :) We did have some drama already though. Our Bill Sykes started with us on Monday and was not being the least bit chatty with us and then he was missing from rehearsal Tuesday. That combined with Clayton walking around with headshots of his type had our tongues wagging. Sure enough yesterday Clayton told us he had dropped out and our new Sykes starts tomorrow (Friday).

Today we got our luggage tags and backstage pass lanyards for the trip and learned we are leaving for CA at the crack of ass on Sept. 8th so I have a few more days here than I expected. Tyler said he's going to order us show jackets: a rite of passage for actors, tells you you're doing a big show so I'm stoked about that. I always wanted one. Kind of like becoming a T-Bird or a Pink Lady!

Well we have a really crazy busy schedule tomorrow and I'm definitely going to get a workout so I'd better get to sleep! Need to get up early and get off-book for a scene we're blocking tomorrow and I have lines I barely know at all. Not good! As you can see from the pic below, script study goes better with an iced latte!
