This is the house I am staying in! It's cute. Except the basement, where the laundry is, looks like an episode of "Hoarders". Yikes. The theatre is renting this bed and breakfast for the summer due to the large casts.
So right in the middle of "talking" to merchant suddenly some honks came out of my throat. I liken it to a goose going through puberty. It startled me and the merchant as well and I laughed then got really excited and he clearly thought I was insane. So day two of steroids and I'm seeing a glimmer of hope of getting it back. Now to fix my super sore quads from kneeling and standing, kneeling and standing. Damn nuns and their genuflecting.
Spent another 2 1/2 hours today on music review of our pieces in Latin and I'm having one hell of a time learning the lyrics not being able to actually sing them and then, of course, it's a language I don't know at all. I've learned music in Italian, French and German but Latin is kicking my ass. It's also hard to hear your part in your head when you have a screeching soprano in your right ear. This lady is a lovely person and has been in the business forever but she insists on singing first soprano when she really shouldn't and her high A's, B's and C's are all painfully flat, causing the M.D. to spend tremendous amounts of time correcting our tuning when she's the only problem. Oy.
I thought you'd all enjoy this pic. The bathrooms were added to the rehearsal space a few years ago and on the back of each door it is autographed by the bathroom's first, uh, christener.
And here's Rex chatting with our M.D. Aaron. This afternoon I had my fitting. As goofy as I look in a habit, after spending so much of the last 3 years in corsets, heeled boots, and doing countless quick changes I am THRILLED to get back into a habit. No hair to do (and with ten inches now gone it'll be cooler), very little makeup, comfy clothes and no costume changes. Ahhhhhh. My fitting was with our Costume Designer Randy and his assistant Brent. We had a lot of fun! I always get along great with the costume shop folks. First because I have done costuming and appreciate their job and two because they aren't crazy actors. I always befriend the crew quickly as I enjoy their different demeanor. And so far the whole crew is awesome!
With a short day, I did a little bit of exploring. I cashed my wee tiny paycheck, filled my gas tank and hit the cheesiest souvenir shop I could find. I love having my car. Even though the traffic seriously sucks here. It's not a highly populated area except in the summer and the roads are not built for the massive summer influx of tourists so it takes forever just to go a few miles. And we've been warned that the cops have nothing to do here but give tickets and they'll nail you for even 5 miles over the speed limit. So I poked around, picked up some cheap goodies and my requisite key chain for my evergrowing, noisy collection on my backpack. I've picked up either a pin or keychain in every state I've played and that's 28 states so far (or something like that).
I brought my car back to the house and walked down to Perkins Cove which is a little shopping and restaurant area on the shore.
Well, that's about it. I spent a couple more hours on music when I got home and am now showered and relaxing watching SoapNet :)
Day off tomorrow! So here's to good rest, lots of time to work on my music and nail that damn Latin, and hopefull a little more than honks.
