Oh you guys, it's gonna be a long tech week. At the end of week two we still have not finished staging the numbers and scenes, we have not choreographed the pie fight and there is a divide now between management and a couple of cast members and the rest of us. Our producer came and and gave us a pep talk because apparently, as she says, she received several e-mails from people expressing concern over the rehearsal process. I mean, we do sit for hours unused. We do still not really get a schedule. We still sit for half an hour after we're supposed to have started while the director, choreographer and music director try to figure out what we're going to do. The saving grace is that everyone is nice but I would not be able to use the word organized. Those of you who have teched a show with me will know that by the time we get to ten out of twelves I descend rapidly into madness. Well, three days early, I had a giggling/crying fit over one guy's iphone app and I couldn't stop. Pure frustration and exhaustion. I did still go to the gym like a good girl but I also comforted myself with some Boston Market carbs regardless of the disapproving looks from Mara.
Leaving rehearsal, Al, who is maybe the most unknowingly entertaining girl ever, decided to run and leap into the van but instead of diving in she just threw herself vertically at the van and landed with her head on the parking lot and her feet on the edge of the van. So hopefully Al will have toured the Coral Springs ER and spared me the honor. She's home with ice on her head and on a percocet. She declared this stunt may have made her dumber. She has a small concussion and needs to take it easy for a couple of days but should be ok. They did a CT scan to be certain. She's a mess. Here's Al before and after:

So into tech we lumber. Day off Monday which, for me, will be full of errands, and then into ten out of twelves we go. Here's hoping we don't all kill each other! The brightspot for me is a callback on Friday morning for the Fulton/Maltz Jupiter co-oproduction of The Sound of Music. So I'm driving up to Jupiter, FL early Friday to sing for my supper then jet back to Coral Springs to get ready for opening night, which will likely involve a last minute rehearsal in the afternoon. I'll check in next weekend and let you know how it went!
