Thanksgiving on the Border

From Waco we headed to McAllen, Texas which is literally about as far south as you can get in the state and is only eight miles from Mexico. We were excited to arrive to 80 degree weather and palm trees in addition to a nice hotel (the Pear Tree Inn). We only had one show here and it went fine. Interesting venue. Scary local crew.

Thursday was Thanksgiving and we had a golden day. Erin and I got up early to head to the pool to catch some rays. The water was pretty cold but the sun felt great! The high was 85 that day. We cleaned up and all hopped our bus to go to a really nice hotel for Thanksgiving dinner on the company. We enjoyed some wine and tons of great food. I showed tremendous restraint and didn't eat tons of carbs or any seconds. Well, except the alcohol.

So after dinner we all brought tons of alcohol down to the pool for a party. The hotel also had a free beer and wine hour where we could each get three drinks. BAD IDEA! You've got 30 actors, musicians and crew members in tropical weather for Thanksgiving and give us free booze? HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Eventually everyone ended up in the pool regardless of what you were wearing or if you even wanted to go in. No one was safe as even the moms got tossed. I know it sounds silly but this really was one of the best Thanksgivings on record. If I could not be with my husband I was happy to be with my road family.
