Yup, it's showcation time and it's busy! This theatre is kind of a social hub. Wednesday and Thursday are a blur of two show days. We had another family style dinner Wednesday at the sorority house but I cooked this time. Our little house is very much a family with Mama Meg, Aunt Stackie and young Ashley. Sadly, Gail finally had to move out. She was supposed to move to other housing as soon as we opened but she waited until she was forced to go because she didn't want to leave us. Sad! Thursday night Crista came over for girl's night but then Paul came over, then Ian came over then Robert and his partner Alan came over and it was suddenly a party instead of a gathering. We played this silly game and drank lots of wine. I have a rule about drinking in front of the boss so I was slightly mortified that Robert popped over after I'd had an entire bottle of wine. Luckily he was schwasted too.
Friday was just an evening show so Ashley and I went grocery shopping at Wal Mart and treated ourselves to manicures in the nail place there. I also bought five tops off the clearance rack that were $3 a piece! Schweet! The only time I buy clothes is when I'm on contract and I was excited to get such a deal! Friday was also Robert's birthday so there was a big party at our now usual bar, The Admiral's Inn. Robert had gone online and found a karaoke track of Rex's "hit" song from 1979 and requested that he sing it. It took very little coaxing to make that happen. So Rex sang and relived his youth as we all watched and cheered. SO fun!
Saturday we only had one show so I just relaxed and did laundry. And Sunday was only a matinee. Allegedly Stefanie Powers was at the show but if she was she didn't come backstage to say hello to us. She's in the next show. Sunday night, the Kingstons (Luisa and Brigitta's parents) invited all of us up to Kennebunkport for lobster at their seafood place that just won Best Lobster Roll on the Travel Channel's "Food Wars" a couple of weeks ago. I've never seen so much lobster in my life. I still can't eat it though. They made chicken for the non-lobster eaters. The entire cast, crew and some loved ones went up and there must have been 45 of us that they fed! Then they walked us all through town to their ice cream place where I thoroughly enjoyed a scoop of Wild Maine Blueberry. Me, Gail, Crista and Ashley poked around the little shops that were still open then headed home. Sadly I got a parking ticket. Stupid Kennebunkport parking police.

Monday we had plans to go to the mall in Portsmouth, NH and get a baby onesie made up for Rex as a "you're gonna be a Grandpa" gift but Gail woke up sick. We went ahead and went but ended up leaving, getting her some soup, and then I got her a Dr. appt. and took her there and to get her prescriptions then home to bed. I was glad to have my car because our producer and company manager were running around picking up the "Sunset Boulevard" cast members. After Ashley and I dropped her off we went poking around and came across Cape Neddick village and beach. It's very cute and very New Englandy. We found a cheesy arcade on the boardwalk and played Ski Ball and some other silly stuff. We used our tickets to get goofy gifts for Gail as a get well present.
Yesterday (Tuesday the 13th) was Brian's opening night in Chicago on the "Shrek" tour! Wished him well then headed off to the theatre. It was rainy and ugly and both the cast and audience were lethargic, Gail was sick and pretty much everything was wonky. Then there was another schmoozy even after the show that no one had known about so we weren't properly dressed. Thankfully people didn't stay long due to the crappy weather so we got to go home. Now it's Wednesday and we're about to start the second act of the matinee. HUGE difference today! Gail is feeling much better, we're all "on" and the audience is so sharp and catching every little subtle thing. I even managed some exit applause at the end of act one. Well we just got our act places call so off I go! I love and miss you all!
